Orthodontics for Adults and Children in Kew East
Perfectly aligned teeth are attractive and an important part of a winning smile, but a straight smile is about much more than just aesthetics. Properly aligned teeth are often healthier teeth, which is why we sometimes recommend them to patients who are seeking improved oral health in addition to cosmetic dentistry.
If your smile is not as straight as you would like, we welcome you to discuss your concerns with one of our knowledgeable practitioners.
Crooked may teeth pose certain challenges:
- Improper bite (occlusion)
- Difficult restoration
- Difficult home hygiene
- Sensitivity
- Premature wear
- Jaw pain or dysfunction
At General and Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer both traditional orthodontics and Invisalign to help our patients of all ages achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.
Traditional Orthodontics
Traditional orthodontics uses brackets and wires to gradually guide teeth into ideal alignment.
Traditional orthodontics can correct common misalignment issues such as:
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite
- Overlapping teeth
- Overcrowded teeth
- Protruding teeth
- Irregular spacing between teeth
Brackets now come in a variety of materials from metal to ceramic. A consultation with one of our skilled dentists will allow us to organise a treatment plan that meets your goals for your smile.
Regular appointments will allow us to adjust the wire, which gently nudges your teeth into proper alignment.
Invisalign
- Smooth and comfortable
- Fewer adjustment and maintenance appointments
- Convenience in hygiene
We will first take x-rays, impressions, and photographs to organise a proper treatment plan. Wearing each set of aligners for approximately two weeks before switching to the next in the series will gradually straighten teeth.
Orthodontic Retainers
Any type of orthodontic treatment requires the use of an orthodontic retainer to preserve your straight smile and protect your investment. Failure to wear a retainer can result in orthodontic relapse, requiring additional treatment.
Several types of retainers exist. We will go over your options, as well as the pros and cons of each type, to help you to make an educated choice regarding the future of your smile.

For Dentistry in Kew East, We Welcome Your Call
With today’s modern orthodontics, a mouth full of metal is not needed to straighten your teeth. This is good news for many adults who decide that they no longer want to live with misaligned or crooked teeth.
How Does Invisalgn Work?
Invisalign clear braces work by quickly but gently moving your teeth into the desired position with clear plastic aligners. In general, Invisalign invisible braces are a cosmetic treatment for straightening teeth that do not need a major position shift with a bite. Most people achieve the results they desire in just about 12 to 18 months, so this is a quicker option for obtaining straighter teeth than traditional orthodontics from our Kew East dental clinic. Patients must commit to wearing the plastic aligners for at least 22 hours each day if they want to reach their smile goals.
Invisalign uses gentle force to move the teeth into alignment. There is little risk of root damage or other issues because treatment is gentle, with extractions seldom being necessary.
As with most orthodontic treatment, you will need to wear a retainer afterward to ensure the continued success of your new smile.
